I don't write about my love life or lack thereof often. Mainly because I've been in way too many embarrassing or downright toxic relationships that it seems unnecessary to invite more folks into the mess I created and cultivated in the name of "love." And honestly, I haven't had much to write about the past few years. Moving to a random place in Mexico where the dating options were next to none and my heart needed serious repair after a steamy situationship in DC turned nonexistent, I've been in the love trenches alone. This is exactly what I needed, especially as someone who depended heavily on the company of others to boost my worth.
But last night, I went on a date, and I remembered how good it feels to engage with someone when you can't help but smile, and laughter erupts from every part of you. I remember how healing it is to allow your expectations to melt away so that the only moment that matters is the one you're in.
