FIRST OF ALL HOW DARE YOU DROP THIS HERE AND HAVE ME IN SHAMBLES !!! I was excited to see new writing from my favorite writer especially after knowing what the last few weeks have brought for you… and then THIS 😭 Now im here on the toilet ugly crying and choked up and I cannot even. Warn a girl next time! You are my best friend, my sister, my soulmate forever and ever and I am lucky to call you kin and be yours, too. And this book whew I cant wait for a proper debrief!!! Love you stink!!
first of all, we do still have to do a proper debrief, maybe sunday? and friend, you already know how I’m rocking behind you. I’ll keep the comment limited before I short circuit my keyboard from crying over top of it. love you!
This was such a beautiful piece! I finished Kin a few weeks ago and had/have a lot of thoughts about it, what family and friend relationships look and feel like. And I smiled the way you talked about your Cherelle! I believe it's so extremely important for us to have those types of relationships in our lives where we can be out most authentic selves! Thank you for sharing your words, Kamil!
thank you so much for reading and sharing boo! I can really appreciate when a book invites you into such a reflective state and it’s things you can actually apply to your life, like the power of relationships and how we choose to define them and how they tend to define us. when I say that’s my cradle friend even though we met when we were 18, that’s my cradle friend, okay?!
Thank you for reading, sis! It really is a blessing I don’t take for granted to have sacred connections like this. and girl if I had a physical copy, I’d send it to you, but I don’t considering I waited weeeekkkss for it to become available on the libby app. pero you need to get into it and when you do, I gots to hear your thoughts. it gets hella deep!
There’s not many relationships I’ve witnessed that are as iconic as that of Mil & Relle. Very fortunate to see its power, grace, gentleness, nourishment, and LOVE. Beautiful write-up, my friend 🥹.
I absolutely LOVED the book Kin, as it reminded me of the close friends who have become my family over the years, and what it means to grow alongside someone. I enjoyed how you wove your friendship with an analysis of the novel ❤️
Thank you for reading and sharing, boo! I just shared in another comment, but I love how certain books just take you somewhere. It’s beautiful that even though this story took place in a different time with their own unique stories it’s still so deeply relatable to many people now. Ironically I needed to write something and started off more book reviewish and it turned into this and I’m grateful it did
Crying for your beautiful friendship. Friends are our chosen kin which makes them even more special. Cheers to more years of beautiful friendship between you two 🫶🏾❤️
thank you for reading and sharing, stink! This is a conversation for another day (and maybe time for us to do a collab post we never go to) about the importance of friendship/chosen family especially when you’re living in a place different from where you’re from
